TEEN BLUES WORKSHOP AND JAM SESSION Our mission is to deliver educational experiences for students of all ages with "The Blues", the roots and heritage of modern American music, in an effort to spark an interest in, and an appreciation for, all of the musical art forms.
Scroll down to read about and view photos of recent Workshop events The Atlanta Blues Society Announces the Teen Blues Workshop and Jam Session Breaking News: The Atlanta Blues Society Teen Blues Workshop and Jam Session Crossroads for Teens For a report of the Workshop session from a students perspective Click on the appropriate report below The May 7th Session The June 4th Session (See Photos Below) Starting May 7, 2006 the Teen Blues began its workshop toeducate, celebrate and express the blues with a few lucky teens interested in learning about the basics of this music form. The Program is open to any Teenager in the Atlanta Metro Area. The structured program will start on the May 7th, 2006 and go through October 3rd, 2006 and will be held on the first Sunday of each Month. Each session will be three (3) hours and be led by local artist "SaNa Blue". Each session will be a mixture of education and actual hands on playing in the newly organized SaNa Sound Studio. The sessions will feature local artist teaching the student musicians the basics in the blues. Such Atlanta locals include: MudCat, Heaven Davis, Larry Griffith, Doug See, Linda Dixon, Thomas Brown, Biggg Shaddy, Vincent Washington, Abdul Mannan, Tony Westmoreland and Jerome "Zoom" Harper and many more. Beginning with the 12 Bar Blues Structure and continuing with Soul Blues Structure, Soloing / Improvising ,Styling, Stage Presence, Composing, and ending with a Blues Concert/Jam session. These workshops will expose teens to time proven techniques for singing and playing the blues on stage. This teen workshop promise to be the best one yet!
